This painting depicts what many reds fans believe to be one of the greatest Barnsley teams ever to grace Oakwell. Securing promotion to the old Division 2 as runners up to Rotherham in 1980/81 season. I wanted to try and get the Old John Smiths stand in there which is now the East Stand and depict the players waving to the crowd. Players such as Mick McCarthy and Ronnie Glavin are fondly remembered and are considered legends by the Oakwell faithful.
