I had a great time painting live in Portugal at the Sir Bobby Robson Celebrity Golf Classic last month. Mark Robson is a lovely man and I felt really included and at home out there. It was also a pleasure to meet my footballing hero’s in Alan Shearer, Gerry Taggart and Mick McCarthy. It was also a real pleasure to meet Liam Brady, Arsenals and AC Milan’s legendary midfielder. Widely considered as one of the greats. I made some fantastic friendsand I’m really excited to be going back next year with a bit of luck. Sir Bobby Robson was my favourite manager. He knew what the beautiful game meant to the fans as he was one himself. A brilliant manager, who was successful with every club he managed, he knew the game so well that he also saw talent in areas that many others wouldn’t have. He was instrumental in Jose Mourinho’s rise to the top and obviously saw the potential in the Portuguese Maestro, giving him an opportunity to progress his career into the world of football management. Nobody knew the game better then Sir Bobby. A great man and a tremendous human being. . He is a gentleman and I throughly enjoyed his company. The painting I created live on the night was of Sir Bobby and his time at Porto. I based the painting on a stained glass window. All of the teams that Sir Bobby managed are represented in the piece through the colours of each team. Sir Bobby managed the likes of Barcelona, Porto, Sporting Lisbon, Newcastle United, PSV Eindhoven, and Ipswich as well as leading England to the semi final of the world cup in Italia 90. The painting was auctioned off by the talented Jonny Gould and was purchased by Peter Millichip. Thanks Peter for supporting my career.
