One of the most fulfilling aspects of creating “Olympic Green” is knowing that the painting has now sold for an incredible 20k, with 60% of the proceeds going to the British Olympic Association. This contribution will hopefully help raise funds for the next generation of British athletes, providing them with the resources and support they need to chase their dreams and continue Britain’s legacy of sporting excellence.
The iconic Olympic rings have always represented unity, competition, and the pinnacle of athletic achievement. “Olympic Green” draws heavily from these ideals. I wanted to create something that not only captures the vibrancy and energy of the games but also honours the athletes who dedicate their lives to the pursuit of excellence.
Incorporating real 24k gold and palladium leaf into the painting was a deliberate choice. These precious materials symbolise the ultimate reward for these athletes’ hard work and dedication. The gold represents the pinnacle of achievement, while the palladium signifies rarity and the effort required to reach such dizzy heights.
A Tribute to Champions
“Olympic Green” features some of the most inspiring athletes of our time, including Sky Brown, Keely Hodgkinson, Lewis Richardson, Beth Potter, Alex Yee, Georgia Taylor-Brown, Sam Dickinson, Kimberley Woods, Katie Marchant, Sophie Capewell, Emma Finucane, Jack Carlin, Hamish Turnball, Ed Lowe, Josh Kerr, Ethan Hayter, Dan Bigham, Charlie Tanfield, Ethan Vernon, Elinor Barker, Josie Knight, Anna Morris, and Jessica Roberts. They represent dreams, perseverance, and the relentless pursuit of greatness. Thanks for signing the piece.
A really Special mention goes to the men’s cycle team, whose efforts secured Team GB’s 1000th medal at the games. This historic achievement is a testament to their hard work, skill, and determination. Their success is not just a personal victory but a milestone for the entire nation.
Through this work, I hope to convey the spirit of our Team GB and the unwavering determination of those who compete at the highest levels. It is my honour to support these incredible individuals and to be a small part of their journey.
It was brilliant to see the women’s Rowers 8’s who won bronze on Saturday. They all came to Team GB house last night to enjoy a stellar performance by Natasha Bedingfield. They signed the painting and it was brilliant to have the photos with them. I also got the chance to have a photo with two of my favourite Olympians Tom George and Ollie Wynne-Griffith next to Olympic black which they feature in. Thanks guys it was a great night and great to see you all
