Mosleys 1887 Mural – a Celebration of Barnsley FC

I really enjoyed creating my new mural at Barnsley FC, a club that means so much to me personally as both an artist and a lifelong supporter.

The mural is a metaphorical representation of Barnsley, celebrating the proud history and identity of the club through key moments that have defined its journey. Within the piece, I’ve showcased the historic 1912 FA Cup win, the unforgettable EFL Trophy triumph at Wembley in 2016, and the club’s special trips to Wembley that have brought so much pride to the town and its supporters. There is also references to the famous red wall in the piece.

I also wanted to include a personal nod to the White Rose, the club badge from “yester” year that reflects both the Yorkshire heritage and my own early memories of supporting Barnsley as a young lad. It’s a meaningful detail that connects the club’s identity with the wider pride of the region.

Creating this mural inside the ATR 1887 hospitality space at Oakwell was a real honour, and I’m incredibly proud to have been able to celebrate the heritage of this special football club through my work.
