Legend has it that Reverend Tiverton Preedy walked out of the local rugby club because they had arranged to play a match on Good Friday. Over hearing some young gentleman speaking about the possibility of forming a football club in front of an Inn, he declared “we will build a soccer team that the Rugbyites will not crush!”.
