“The first goal I ever scored in a playground we had a chalked goal on the wall and the football was a piece of bark. I was six years old.”
Ben was commissioned by McDonalds UK to produce a live painting as part of a community project supported by the English Football Association. Ware Youth F.C. were selected as the youth team to take part in the initiative. The whole of the football club participated in the project and England internationals Martin Keown and Casey Stoney were also in attendance. Ben named the painting ‘One-nil.’
The story concerns a young boy playing football in the garden with his Dad the night before a big game. The boy goes to sleep dreaming about scoring the winning goal for his team. When he wakes up the next day he goes out and does just that. The project was a real celebration of grassroots football and everyone became part of the actual painting by adding their handprints to the canvas.
