Day 17 – A Golden Goodbye

And then it was all over! Jason Kenny and Lauren Price concluded Team GB’s games, with a couple of fantastic gold medals in the men’s keirin and women’s boxing, respectively.

Jason Kenny’s gold has thrust him into the history books, currently sitting as the most successful British Olympian of all time.

Lauren Price’s gold in boxing has a story all of it’s own. Having already won major titles and plaudits, as a self-funding kickboxer and footballer, Lauren has truly proven to be herself an incredible athlete, with an insatiable desire for success at the highest level. So, so much respect for her and – if you haven’t already – have a read about the adversities and the setbacks that she’s had to endure to triumph as Olympic champion. A true inspiration in EVERY sense of the word.

After having added the final two golds to medal moments mural, all that was left was my take on the closing ceremony. Using imagery taken from Japanese culture and combining them with elements of Britain and Team GB, I’ve shown the athletes coming home.

17 Days; 65 medals and a whole lot of Team GB success and we’re finished.

Massive thanks to every single one of you that have taken the time out of your days to stop by the popup or sent me messages of support. You all rock!
